Refund & Cancellation Policy
Last Updated: 15 Sep 2026
This Refund & Cancellation Policy (“Refund Policy”) explains the terms under which customers may cancel orders or request refunds for identity verification, background verification, and related services provided through Checkk.in(“Checkk”, “we”, “us”, or “our”).
By placing an order or purchasing a Service through Checkk.in, you acknowledge and agree to this Refund Policy, together with our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.
1. Our Approach to Refunds
Checkk.in provides verification services that may require immediate processing, document review, data verification, third-party checks, field verification, or other operational resources.
For this reason, refund eligibility may depend on whether the requested verification has already started and the reason for the refund request.
We aim to handle refund requests fairly and transparently while accounting for work and third-party costs already incurred in processing an order.
Nothing in this Refund Policy limits any consumer rights or other rights that cannot legally be excluded under applicable Indian law.
2. Cancellation Before Verification Starts
If you request cancellation before Checkk.in has started processing your verification, you may be eligible for a full refund of the amount paid, subject to any applicable payment-processing charges that cannot be recovered.
To request cancellation, contact us as soon as possible after placing the order.
A verification is considered to have started when we or an authorized service provider have begun processing, reviewing, submitting, contacting, checking, or otherwise performing work relating to the requested Service.
Once processing has started, the cancellation rules under the following sections may apply.
3. Cancellation After Verification Has Started
If a verification has already started, a full refund may not be available.
Depending on the circumstances, Checkk.in may:
- Provide a partial refund;
- Provide a credit toward another verification;
- Refund any unused portion of the Service where reasonably determinable; or
- Decline the refund where substantial work or third-party costs have already been incurred.
Any refund decision will take into account the nature of the Service, the work already completed, third-party costs, and applicable law.
4. Verification Cannot Be Completed
Sometimes a verification cannot be completed because required information or records are unavailable.
Examples may include:
- Insufficient information provided by the customer;
- Incorrect or incomplete information;
- Required documents not being provided;
- The person being verified not cooperating where cooperation is required;
- Required consent or authorization not being provided;
- Records not being available;
- Third-party sources being inaccessible;
- Government or institutional restrictions;
- Geographic or logistical limitations;
- Legal or regulatory restrictions; or
- Circumstances beyond Checkk.in’s reasonable control.
In these circumstances, a refund is not automatically guaranteed.
Depending on the circumstances and the amount of work already performed, Checkk.in may offer a full or partial refund, credit, re-verification, or other appropriate resolution.
5. Delayed Verification
We provide estimated processing times for our Services where possible.
Estimated processing times are not guaranteed unless a specific Service expressly states otherwise.
Verification may take longer due to third-party response times, government or institutional processing, incomplete information, additional verification requirements, technical issues, holidays, geographic limitations, or other circumstances outside our reasonable control.
A delay by itself does not automatically qualify an order for a full refund.
If a verification is substantially delayed, please contact our support team so that we can review the order and determine an appropriate resolution.
6. Duplicate Payments
If you have accidentally paid for the same Service more than once, please contact us promptly.
After confirming that a duplicate transaction occurred, we will generally refund the duplicate payment, subject to verification of the transaction and any applicable payment-provider procedures.
7. Failed or Unsuccessful Payment
If your payment appears to have failed but the amount has been debited from your bank account or payment method, please contact us with the relevant transaction information.
We will review the transaction.
Where we receive confirmation that the payment was unsuccessful and the amount is subsequently reversed by the payment provider, no separate refund may be required.
Where Checkk.in has received the funds and the order was not successfully created, we may process a refund after confirming the transaction.
8. Incorrect Service Purchased
If you accidentally purchase the wrong verification package, contact us as soon as possible.
If processing has not started, we may be able to cancel the original order and issue a refund or allow you to purchase the appropriate Service.
If processing has already started, we may instead offer an adjustment, credit, upgrade, or partial refund depending on the circumstances.
Any additional amount required for an upgraded or different Service must be paid before the additional Service is provided.
9. Customer-Provided Incorrect Information
Customers are responsible for providing accurate information.
If a verification cannot be completed or produces an inaccurate or inconclusive result because the customer supplied incorrect, incomplete, outdated, or misleading information, the customer may not be entitled to a refund.
Where practical, Checkk.in may allow the customer to correct the information and request a re-verification, which may be subject to additional charges.
10. Lack of Required Consent or Authorization
Where a Service requires consent, authorization, documentation, or participation from the person being verified, the customer is responsible for ensuring that the required requirements are satisfied.
If the required consent or authorization is not provided, a refund will depend on whether Checkk.in has already begun processing the order and whether costs have been incurred.
Checkk.in may also suspend or cancel processing where continuing would not be lawful or appropriate.
11. Unfavourable Verification Results
A customer is not entitled to a refund simply because a verification produces an unfavourable, adverse, negative, inconclusive, or unexpected result.
The purpose of a background verification is to obtain and assess information within the scope of the selected Service.
For example, if a customer requests a driver or employee background check and the result identifies information that the customer considers undesirable, this does not mean that the Service failed.
A refund may only be considered where there is a genuine service failure or another circumstance covered by this Refund Policy or applicable law.
12. Incomplete Verification Results
A verification may sometimes return an “unable to verify,” “inconclusive,” “insufficient information,” or similar outcome.
Such an outcome does not necessarily mean that the Service was not performed.
It may result from limitations in available records, information discrepancies, source restrictions, unavailable databases, inability to contact relevant parties, or other circumstances.
Refund eligibility will therefore depend on the circumstances and the extent of the verification work completed.
13. Fraudulent or Misleading Orders
Checkk.in reserves the right to refuse, suspend, or cancel orders where we reasonably believe that:
- Fraudulent information has been submitted;
- Payment was made using an unauthorized payment method;
- Documents have been falsified;
- The Service is being used for an unlawful purpose;
- The verification request violates applicable law;
- Required consent or authorization has not been obtained; or
- The customer is attempting to manipulate the verification process.
Where an order is cancelled for unlawful or fraudulent use, the refund position will be determined based on the circumstances and applicable law.
14. Refund Request Process
To request a refund, contact Checkk.in using our official support contact details.
Please provide:
- Customer name;
- Registered email address or phone number;
- Order or verification ID;
- Date of purchase;
- Service purchased;
- Payment transaction/reference number, where available;
- Reason for the refund request; and
- Any relevant supporting information.
We may request additional information reasonably necessary to verify the request.
15. Refund Review
Once a refund request is received, we may review:
- The Service purchased;
- The date and time of purchase;
- Whether processing had started;
- The amount of work completed;
- Third-party costs incurred;
- The reason for cancellation;
- Information provided by the customer;
- Applicable payment records; and
- Applicable legal requirements.
We will communicate the outcome of the refund request through the contact information associated with the customer’s account or order.
16. Refund Processing Time
Where a refund is approved, Checkk.in will initiate the refund through the applicable payment method or payment service provider.
The time taken for the refunded amount to appear in your bank account, card account, wallet, or other payment method may depend on the payment provider and financial institution.
Checkk.in is not responsible for delays caused solely by banks, card networks, payment gateways, wallets, or other third-party financial service providers.
17. Refund Method
Where possible, refunds will generally be made to the original payment method used for the transaction.
We may request additional information or follow the procedures required by the payment provider to process a refund securely.
We will not ordinarily send a refund to an unrelated third-party payment account unless permitted and reasonably required under applicable procedures.
18. Taxes and Payment Processing Charges
Where applicable, refunds may be adjusted to account for amounts that cannot reasonably be recovered from third-party payment processors or other service providers, subject to applicable law.
Any treatment of GST or other applicable taxes will be handled in accordance with applicable tax requirements.
Where a statutory refund requires taxes or charges to be refunded, applicable law will prevail.
19. Service Credits
In certain circumstances, instead of a monetary refund, Checkk.in may offer a service credit.
A service credit may be offered where:
- A verification cannot be completed;
- A technical issue affects processing;
- A re-verification is more appropriate than a refund; or
- Another reasonable resolution is available.
Service credits may have an expiry period and may be subject to conditions communicated when the credit is issued.
A service credit will not replace a legally required monetary refund.
20. Re-Verification
Where a verification contains an identifiable processing or information issue that can reasonably be corrected, Checkk.in may offer a re-verification instead of a refund.
For example, a re-verification may be appropriate where:
- Correct information becomes available;
- Additional documentation is provided;
- A source becomes available after the initial check;
- A technical issue prevented completion; or
- A verification needs to be repeated within the scope of the purchased Service.
Additional fees may apply where the new request falls outside the scope of the original Service.
21. No Refund for Customer’s Change of Mind After Processing
Once processing has started, a customer generally cannot claim a full refund solely because they have changed their mind, no longer require the verification, have hired someone else, or no longer wish to proceed.
We may nevertheless review individual circumstances and provide an appropriate resolution where reasonable and legally permitted.
22. Third-Party Service Costs
Some verification Services may involve third-party providers, field agents, databases, institutions, or other external resources.
Once such third-party services have been initiated or costs have been incurred, those amounts may not be recoverable.
Accordingly, a refund may be reduced by non-recoverable third-party costs, where permitted by law.
23. Changes to a Verification Request
If you need to change information relating to a verification after placing an order, contact us as soon as possible.
Depending on the stage of processing, we may be able to update the request without additional charges.
If the requested change requires the verification to be restarted or substantially expanded, additional fees may apply.
24. Chargebacks and Payment Disputes
Before initiating a payment chargeback or payment dispute, we encourage customers to contact Checkk.in so that we can investigate the issue and attempt to resolve it.
Unauthorized chargebacks or fraudulent payment disputes may result in suspension of the associated account or Services, subject to applicable law.
Nothing in this section limits any rights available to customers under applicable law or through their payment provider.
25. Consumer Rights
This Refund Policy is intended to operate consistently with applicable Indian consumer-protection and other laws.
Nothing in this policy is intended to exclude, restrict, or waive a right or remedy that cannot legally be excluded, restricted, or waived.
Where applicable law provides a customer with a mandatory refund, cancellation right, replacement, remedy, or other statutory protection, that legal right will apply notwithstanding anything inconsistent in this Policy.
26. Abuse of Refund Policy
We may investigate repeated, suspicious, or potentially abusive refund requests.
Examples may include:
- Repeated cancellations after processing begins;
- Repeated claims of unauthorized transactions where transactions appear authorized;
- Intentional submission of incorrect information;
- Repeated use of complimentary re-verifications;
- Attempts to obtain Services without paying applicable charges.
Where permitted by law, we may restrict access to Services in cases of suspected abuse.
27. Amendments to This Refund Policy
We may update this Refund & Cancellation Policy from time to time.
Changes may be made to reflect:
- Changes to our Services;
- Changes in payment methods;
- Changes in business practices;
- Changes in applicable law or regulation;
- Changes in refund procedures.
The updated version will be published on this page with a revised “Last Updated” date.
The policy applicable to an order will generally be the policy in effect when the order was placed, subject to applicable law.
